Hyundai Motor India has revealed the technology features of the India-spec BAYON, an SUV it calls an “Intelligent Utility Vehicle,” ahead of its launch in India on 26 October 2026. Built around the philosophy of “Intelligence That Moves,” the BAYON brings together artificial intelligence, advanced connectivity, a software-defined architecture and a digital cockpit.

At the heart of the SUV is Hyundai India’s first generative AI voice assistant, with intelligence by Perplexity and voice AI powered by SoundHound AI. Unlike conventional systems that rely on fixed commands, it can understand everyday conversation. Drivers can ask it to plan a road trip itinerary, check the weather, suggest hotels and restaurants, find nearby shopping destinations or share sports scores.

The BAYON also features Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), accelerated by NVIDIA, which offers online navigation, a personalised control panel, split-screen functions and smartphone-like quick controls. These are shown on dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays, with individual user profiles for a personalised experience.

The SUV is designed to keep improving after purchase. Up to 19 controllers can receive over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing Hyundai to roll out new features, reduce maintenance needs and improve safety and security remotely. Hyundai Bluelink adds more than 70 connected features, including remote start and stop, remote vehicle controls, smartwatch connectivity and safety and security functions.

To suit India’s linguistic diversity, the interface supports 10 regional and two international languages. More than 500 built-in voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu work even without an internet connection, for faster responses.
“Through segment-defining technologies & features such as HMIL’s first-ever Generative AI Voice Assistant, NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), Vehicle Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) updates and Hyundai Bluelink connected features, BAYON represents the next generation of intelligent mobility for Indian customers,” said Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India.
The BAYON will be powered by Hyundai’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 115 PS and 144 Nm. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
