Toyota Kirloskar Expands Skill Development Drive with Two New T-TEP Centres in Tamil Nadu

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has expanded its technical education and skill development initiatives with the launch of two new Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) centres in Tamil Nadu under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme for FY2025–26. The new centres, established at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Coimbatore and Thanapandiyan Polytechnic College in Madurai, are aimed at strengthening the automotive talent ecosystem by equipping students with industry-relevant technical capabilities and practical training exposure.

The initiative further reinforces Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s focus on skill development as a key pillar of its CSR strategy and aligns with the broader national objective of creating a future-ready workforce.

The newly established centres will together have a combined annual intake capacity of over 900 students. The Coimbatore centre will offer training in key technical trades such as Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV), Fitter and Painter, supporting around 560 students annually. Meanwhile, the Madurai facility, established to cater to students from surrounding rural regions, will provide training across six technical trades with an annual intake of around 360 students.

As part of the programme, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will provide comprehensive training support through structured service skill modules alongside Body & Mind programmes designed to enhance workplace readiness, discipline and teamwork. Students will also gain access to industry-oriented curriculum and specialised training materials developed to meet the changing requirements of the automotive sector.

The year-long training programme has been designed for final-year ITI and Diploma students and combines classroom learning with practical on-the-job training at authorised Toyota dealerships. The blended learning model is intended to reduce the gap between academic education and industry requirements while improving students’ employability prospects.

The company said the initiative is aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India mission and aims to create long-term socio-economic impact, particularly for students from underserved and rural communities by enabling access to quality technical education and stronger career pathways.

Mr. Vikram Gulati, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Governance at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said skill development continues to remain a critical component of the company’s nation-building efforts. He added that the expansion of T-TEP in Tamil Nadu, particularly across institutions serving rural communities, reflects Toyota’s continued focus on narrowing the gap between education and employability while nurturing skilled talent for India’s evolving mobility ecosystem.

Representatives from both educational institutions welcomed the initiative, stating that the programme would strengthen the learning environment and provide students with practical industry exposure, which has become increasingly important in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
