JSW MG Motor India collaborates with DPIIT to launch a new season of MGDP

JSW MG Motor India has announced the launch of Season 6.0 of the MG Developer Program & Grant (MGDP) in collaboration with DPIIT, reinforcing its commitment to accelerating innovation and strengthening India’s start-up ecosystem. Building on the success of previous editions, the sixth season is themed ‘Innovation in Automotive’ and will focus on future-ready mobility solutions.

Season 6.0 invites start-ups to showcase innovations across multiple categories, including Logistics and Supply Chain, AI in Automotive, V2X Intelligence, Sustainability and Circular Economy, Vehicle Technology, Connected Services, EV Charging Infrastructure, and Manufacturing. Entries will be evaluated by an esteemed jury comprising senior leaders and experts from leading corporates, academic institutions, and industry bodies, based on uniqueness and real-world applicability.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said that innovation continues to be a cornerstone of the company’s vision for India and that the organisation remains committed to nurturing this through multiple initiatives. He added that the new edition of MGDP aims to empower start-ups working in new energy, autonomous, and connected mobility technologies, with the larger goal of enhancing customer experiences through meaningful technological advancements.

Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, noted that Startup India is committed to supporting initiatives that foster collaboration, create opportunities for young talent, and drive India-specific innovation. He added that the partnership with JSW MG Motor India reflects a shared commitment to nurturing future talent and promoting a culture of practical problem-solving.

Selected participants will receive mentorship from JSW MG Motor India and its ecosystem partners, along with access to development support, testing opportunities, and potential grant assistance at the jury’s discretion. Applications for Season 6.0 are now open and will close on April 30, 2026. Shortlisted teams will undergo a mentorship phase ahead of Demo Day on June 1, 2026.

Launched in 2019 in partnership with MG’s ecosystem partners and technology leaders, the MG Developer Program & Grant aims to nurture breakthrough solutions in India’s urban mobility space.

Over its first five seasons, MGDP has received more than 1,550 entries, with over 290 teams shortlisted in the initial rounds. These teams have been mentored by more than 100 experts, including JSW MG Motor India’s leadership and its technology partners, making it one of the largest mentoring initiatives in the automotive sector. To date, 51 start-ups have been selected under MGDP and are working on various pilot projects.
