With modern styling, cutting-edge tech and deep localisation, the new model signals Renault’s renewed push in India, now a central pillar of its global growth strategy.
Renault India has brought back one of its most loved SUVs with the unveiling of the all-new Renault Duster — a model that once redefined the mid-size SUV segment in the country. The brand celebrated the return of this icon with a first-of-its-kind event at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, attended by over 15,000 people, including the vibrant “Gang of Dusters” community.

This launch marks a major milestone in Renault’s International Game Plan 2027, with India now positioned as a key pillar of the company’s global growth. Mr. Fabrice Cambolive, Chief Growth Officer of Renault Group and CEO of the Renault brand, said the new Duster represents the “first step in Renault’s renewal in India.” He explained that India now combines design, engineering, manufacturing, and operations at a scale that makes it one of Renault’s strongest global hubs.
A New Platform, Made for India
Nearly 90% of the new Duster has been engineered specifically for India and is based on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP). The platform is built for global 5-star safety standards, tested for extreme conditions, and flexible enough to support multiple powertrains and advanced electronic features.
Renault is offering the Duster with three engine options; the Turbo TCe 160 produces 163 PS and 280 Nm — the best in the segment — while the Turbo TCe 100 serves as an accessible yet capable petrol option. For the first time in India, Renault has also introduced its strong hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain, using Formula 1-derived technology. This setup combines a 1.8-litre engine with a 1.4 kWh battery, allowing up to 80% pure electric driving in city conditions.
The SUV offers a 6-speed DCT with wet clutch for smooth, quick shifts, along with a 6-speed manual for those who prefer direct, mechanical control.
Rugged Outside, Modern and Driver-Focused Inside
While the Duster has evolved, it stays true to the rugged, adventure-first character that made it a household name. Narrating the design of the new vehicle, Mr. Laurens van den Acker, Chief Design Officer, Renault Group said, a bold character line, trapezoidal grille, yellow-accented branding and full LED headlamps have been given to offer a striking and modern road presence. Its 212 mm ground clearance and best-in-class approach and departure angles ensure it remains ready for tough terrain.

Inside, the cabin is inspired by fighter-jet ergonomics, giving the driver a commanding feel. Sculpted seats with yellow stitching, a raised centre console, carbon-finish details and a panoramic sunroof create a refined atmosphere. Mountain Jade leatherette, a colour inspired by Himalayan forests, adds a premium touch.
Technology That Learns From You
The new Duster introduces advanced technology, including a dual-screen cockpit setup — a 25.65 cm (10.1″) OpenR Link touchscreen with Google built-in, and a 26.03 cm (10.25″) digital driver display. With Google Maps, real-time traffic data, 100+ apps and built-in voice assistance, users can access an entire digital ecosystem without connecting a smartphone.
Personalisation is at the core of this system. Drivers can sign in with their Google account, allowing the car to remember their preferred ADAS settings, drive modes and infotainment choices. Multi-Sense drive modes (Eco, Comfort and Perso) let drivers tailor the Duster’s behaviour to match their style.

Comfort features include ventilated and electrically adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, PM2.5 filtration with AQI display, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and an electric tailgate.
Made in India, Made for India
Mr. Stéphane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India, said the company has transformed into a fully integrated automotive player in the country with a strong promise: “Made in India, Made for India.” He explained that the new Duster carries the spirit of the original SUV while bringing modern performance, hybrid technology and better connectivity. He called it “the best Duster Renault has ever produced anywhere in the world.”
He also noted that the Duster’s hybrid system is one of Renault’s biggest achievements, offering better efficiency and advanced electric driving capability. He also stressed that despite the new features, the SUV stays true to its rugged DNA and is built for customers who love exploration.
Both Mr. Cambolive and Mr. Deblaise highlighted India’s growing importance in Renault’s global operations. The company now owns its Chennai plant fully, has one of its largest engineering hubs in the world here, and operates its biggest design centre outside France. This ecosystem helps the OEM respond faster to the Indian market and build products that serve customers both in India and globally.
Warranty, Bookings and Deliveries
The new Duster will be offered with a warranty of up to seven years or 1,50,000 km under the Renault Forever programme, reinforcing long-term reliability.
Customers can pre-book the SUV through an R Pass priced at ₹21,000, which offers early delivery, introductory pricing, exclusive merchandise and a behind-the-scenes chance to see the vehicle being built.
Prices will be announced in mid-March 2026. Deliveries for the petrol models will begin in April 2026, while hybrid variants will be available from Diwali 2026.
