At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Supervisory Board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG announced key leadership appointments and organisational changes to accelerate the company’s transformation and strengthen operational performance.
Effective November 1, 2025, Mr. Andreas Moser, currently head of ZF’s Industrial Technology division, has been appointed to the Board of Management, where he will oversee the Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology divisions as well as the India Region.
In a parallel move, Mr. Sebastian Schmitt has been named head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology (E) division, which integrates ZF’s conventional, hybrid, and electric passenger-car drivetrain technologies. Schmitt, who presently leads the Electrified Powertrain Systems product line, will report directly to CEO Mathias Miedreich, who continues to hold overall responsibility for the E division at the Board level.

Dr. Rolf Breidenbach, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said the appointments bring both continuity and clarity to ZF’s leadership structure. “In Mr. Andreas Moser, we’ve found a Board member who has been with ZF for more than 30 years, many of them in leadership roles across Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology. This means competence and continuity. We’ve succeeded in setting up ZF’s management committee within a very short time so that the Group’s current challenges can be mastered,” he said.
CEO Mathias Miedreich added, “With this new Management Board, we have a strong and highly competent leadership team that will successfully guide ZF into the future.”
A long-time ZF veteran, Mr. Andreas Moser joined the company in 1992 and has held several management roles across business units and sales. He led the Commercial Vehicle Solutions division in 2020 before taking charge of the Industrial Technology division in 2021. Sebastian Schmitt, an industrial engineer who has been with ZF for nearly two decades, has held key roles at the company’s Saltillo site in Mexico and the Brandenburg transmission plant, where he served as managing director.
As part of a broader restructuring aimed at enhancing agility and performance, ZF is reducing its Group Board of Management from six to five members. The company is also establishing a Transformation Committee — a central body connecting sales, materials management, production, and strategy directly with the Board. This committee will drive the group-wide performance programme that forms the core of ZF’s transformation agenda.
“Our entire focus in the coming years will be on strengthening ZF’s operations, further increasing profitability, and consistently expanding financial stability,” said Mr. Miedreich. “The new Transformation Committee stands for speed, clarity, and impact – with the clearly defined objective of supporting our customers through forward-looking technologies and reliable partnerships.”
