Jamna Auto Industries Unveils Major Expansion with New Facility in Pithampur

JAI Automotive Components Ltd., a subsidiary of Jamna Auto Industries Ltd. (JAI), celebrated the groundbreaking of its new manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. This new plant marks JAI’s 11th manufacturing site in India and is a key step in the company’s expansion strategy. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), alongside Mr. Randeep Jauhar, Chairman of JAI, and senior management from both organizations.

Mr. Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles Limited, laid the foundation stone of the new facility, signalling the beginning of its construction. His presence highlighted the importance of this development in strengthening the relationship between VECV and JAI.

Strategic Significance
The new plant in Pithampur represents a significant milestone for JAI, enhancing its manufacturing capabilities and reinforcing its position in the automotive components sector. This facility adds to JAI’s extensive network of 10 plants across 8 states, demonstrating its commitment to growth and innovation in India.

During the event, Mr. Randeep Jauhar reflected on the longstanding partnership between JAI and VECV, which has thrived for over three decades since the Eicher Mitsubishi days. This deep-rooted association has been instrumental in the mutual success and expansion of both companies.

Expansion and Product Innovation
The Pithampur facility is designed to cover 56 acres, with an anticipated phased investment of approximately Rs. 350 Crores (US$42 Million). The first phase, set to be operational by April 2025, will focus on the production of U bolts and springs. Subsequent phases will include the manufacture of suspension and trailer products.

Mr. Sunil Laroiya, President & CTO of Jamna Auto Industries, provided insights into JAI’s journey over the past 70 years. Starting as a spring repair shop in 1954, JAI has evolved into the world’s largest parabolic spring manufacturer. The company’s product line has expanded from leaf springs to include air suspension systems, lift axles, trailer suspensions, and trailer axles, positioning JAI as a comprehensive provider of commercial vehicle suspension solutions.

Enhancing Supply Chain and R&D Capabilities
Mr. Vinod Aggarwal expressed his appreciation for JAI’s decision to establish the new plant in Pithampur, noting its potential to strengthen the supply chain and accelerate product development. The facility will also include a state-of-the-art centralized warehouse to support JAI’s nationwide aftermarket network.

JAI’s advanced R&D center in Pune will play a crucial role in supporting the new plant’s operations. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies and staffed by a team of 25 engineering professionals, the R&D center is capable of designing and validating entire suspension systems. The center’s resources include a metallography laboratory, servo actuators for road condition simulations, and teams dedicated to CAD modeling and finite element analyses (FEAs).

The establishment of the new manufacturing facility in Pithampur marks a significant step in JAI’s growth trajectory. By expanding its production capabilities and enhancing its supply chain, JAI is well-positioned to continue its leadership in the automotive components industry and to meet the evolving demands of its customers.
