India’s SUV market is evolving rapidly, and buyers now expect more than just size. They demand a seamless blend of strength, luxury, advanced technology and authentic off-road capability — all integrated into one uncompromising package.

For years, the SUV market has been structurally divided. Traditional D-segment SUVs delivered body-on-frame robustness, space and practicality, but often fell short on refinement and advanced 4×4 intelligence. On the other hand, luxury monocoque SUVs prioritised comfort, design and connected technologies, yet lacked true off-road hardware and mechanical depth. This structural gap has created the need for a new classification — the D+ segment.
The MAJESTOR from JSW MG Motor India is engineered to address this white space, combining ladder-frame strength, intelligent 4×4 systems, advanced driver assistance technologies and executive-grade comfort into a single integrated platform.
Design That Commands Attention
The MAJESTOR is positioned as the tallest, widest and longest SUV in its segment. Its bold mosaic matrix grille, sharp Dragon eye DRLs and split headlamps create a strong front identity. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps add a clean and modern look. Large 19-inch dual-shade alloy wheels further enhance its powerful stance. According to the carmaker, the overall design philosophy is simple — the new SUV should stand tall, stand apart and never go unnoticed. In response, the front-end architecture has been carefully engineered with pedestrian protection in mind. The positioning of the front bumper and the energy-absorbing bonnet structure are designed to mitigate impact forces in the event of a collision, reducing injury risk by optimising deformation zones and load paths.

In addition, the SUV is equipped with specially developed low-emission tyres and advanced brake pad formulations designed to meet emerging Euro 7 particulate emission requirements, even though the regulation is not yet in the immediate regulatory horizon. These components help reduce non-exhaust emissions, such as tyre and brake wear particles, while maintaining braking performance and durability standards.
Executive Comfort on Wheels
Inside, the cabin is designed as a private sanctuary. The smoke ebony interior theme, plush leather upholstery and contrast detailing create a refined and premium feel. Comfort takes centre stage. The segment-first multi-mode massage seats offer eight massage patterns to reduce fatigue on long journeys. Ventilated seats ensure comfort in all weather conditions. The 12-way powered driver seat with memory function makes daily driving effortless.

The Galaxy View panoramic roof adds openness, while 64-colour ambient lighting allows drivers to match the cabin mood to the journey. The JBL Studio 12 sound system delivers a rich audio experience. Practicality has not been ignored. The powered tailgate opens with a simple kick gesture. The SUV offers 343 litres of boot capacity with all three rows in place. Folding the third row expands cargo space to 1,350 litres, while folding both the second and third rows increases total usable volume to over 2,500 litres, enabling flexible load configurations for both passenger and high-capacity cargo requirements. Three-zone climate control, multiple storage areas and a 220V power outlet and dual wireless chargers make it ready for both family and business use.
Intelligent Connectivity with iSMART 2.0
The MAJESTOR’s technology experience is powered by iSMART 2.0, integrating over 75 connected features. The cabin features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster and a multifunction steering wheel, creating a clean and intuitive layout.

Through its partnership with Reliance Jio, the SUV connects seamlessly with India’s digital ecosystem. JioSaavn app integration gives access to music and podcasts directly in the car. The Home-to-Car function allows users to schedule services or book test drives through connected TV and voice support in multiple regional languages.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure easy access to apps and navigation. A digital Bluetooth key allows drivers to unlock and drive the SUV without a physical key — and even share access securely with family members.
Valet mode protects personal data with a PIN and provides a trip summary. Quiet mode reduces selected audio output for peaceful night drives. Anti-theft immobilisation enhances security.
Level 2 ADAS for Safer Journeys
The MAJESTOR comes equipped with Level-2 ADAS features such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking. These systems enhance driver awareness and reduce fatigue on highways. A 360-degree HD camera makes parking easier, while six airbags and a high-tensile ladder frame chassis provide strong passive safety. The SUV’s advanced perception system is capable of identifying pedestrians and uniquely profiled vehicles such as three-wheelers through its integrated camera and radar suite. Upon detection, the system provides real-time visual alerts via intuitive on-screen animations, enhancing situational awareness and enabling timely driver response in complex urban traffic environments.

Enhanced Stability
The SUV features a near-optimal 52:48 front-to-rear weight distribution, contributing to balanced handling and improved stability across both on-road and off-road conditions. Built on a body-on-ladder (BoL) architecture, the chassis has been further engineered to optimise unsprung mass through a specially developed and locally manufactured suspension system. This setup incorporates spindle-shaped springs with variable thickness, enabling better load absorption, durability and ride compliance under varying payload conditions.
While the core BoL platform is derived from the Gloster, the cross-members have been specifically re-engineered to manage load distribution for the larger seven-seater configuration, enhancing structural rigidity and torsional strength.
True 4×4 Intelligence
Beyond comfort and technology, the MAJESTOR is built for real adventure. At its core is an advanced off-road control system with 10 modes. It automatically adapts the vehicle to different surfaces. The SUV comes with first-in-segment Triple Differential Locks (front, rear, and centre), maximising traction by distributing torque evenly across wheels. Whether climbing steep hills, crossing deep ruts or driving on loose sand, the system ensures uninterrupted power delivery. The Advanced 4WD system with10 off-road modes deliver the best of both worlds. Drivers can switch between different dedicated terrain modes — Sand, Rock, Mud and Snow — adjust throttle response and traction for specific conditions. The CCO button – Crawl Control Operation – helps in extreme terrain mastery. Seated in the co-driver’s seat, the writer observed the CCO system maintain controlled, low-speed progress during a 35-degree incline ascent and a 42-degree descent. The system automatically modulated throttle input and braking force to ensure consistent traction and stability across both gradients. By managing torque delivery and braking intervention in real time, CCO allowed the driver to concentrate solely on steering precision and line selection with the help of 360-degree camera view, significantly reducing workload in demanding off-road conditions. With a water-wading capability of up to 810 mm, the SUV is engineered to confidently negotiate deep water crossings and flood-prone terrain. Its unique technologies enable stable, controlled progress through challenging amphibious conditions without compromising performance or safety.

Powertrain
The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and is offered in both 2WD and advanced 4WD configurations.
While the core powertrain architecture is shared with the Gloster, it has been recalibrated to suit the higher kerb weight and revised dynamic profile of this larger SUV. The tuning focuses on optimised torque mapping, improved low-end responsiveness and refined shift logic, ensuring consistent drivability, stronger load-hauling capability and stable performance across varied terrain conditions.

The MAJESTOR is not positioned as just another SUV. It aims to define a new D+ segment — where executive luxury meets real 4×4 capability, where connected intelligence enhances everyday driving, and where customers no longer have to compromise.
