Tata Motors and Stellantis Sign Deal to Build Vehicles in India for Global Markets

Stellantis India and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV), along with its subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, have signed a Definitive Agreement to expand their long-standing partnership into advanced vehicle technology.

Under the deal, Tata Motors will give Stellantis access to its product technology and vehicle architecture. Stellantis will build on these through its engineering teams in India to develop vehicles for more than 50 global markets. The vehicles will be made at Fiat India Automobiles, the 50:50 joint venture between the two companies.

The agreement builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2026 to explore collaboration in manufacturing, engineering and supply chain. It aims to boost exports and strengthen India’s role in global vehicle production.

“Together, we have an exciting opportunity to combine our respective strengths to create compelling vehicles engineered and made in India for customers in India and around the world,” said Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.

Mr. Tianshu Xin, Chief Operating Officer, Stellantis Asia-Pacific, said the agreement reinforces India’s growing role as a manufacturing and development hub for Stellantis.
