Bridgestone India Marks 30 Years of Operations with Landmark Partner Celebration

Bridgestone India, a group company of Bridgestone Corporation, Japan, has commemorated 30 years of operations in India. Since its founding, Bridgestone Corporation has placed strong emphasis on expanding its global footprint, beginning with its entry into the Asian market. Today, the company operates in more than 150 countries, supplying high-quality products and building businesses rooted in local communities. To mark the milestone, Bridgestone India hosted a commemorative ceremony in New Delhi, recognising the invaluable contributions of partners who have played a key role in the company’s growth journey.

The celebration was graced by H.E. Mr. ONO Keiichi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India & the Kingdom of Bhutan, who attended as the Chief Guest. The event brought together representatives from leading global automotive manufacturers, supplier partners, industry leaders and senior government officials, all of whom were honoured for their longstanding partnership with and support for Bridgestone.

Marking three decades of commitment to India, the event highlighted Bridgestone India’s enduring focus on innovation, safety, quality, sustainability and customer-centric mobility solutions. It also celebrated the strong ecosystem of stakeholders whose collaboration has fuelled the company’s growth and enabled it to contribute meaningfully to India’s automotive industry.

Bridgestone commenced operations in India in 1996, followed by the start of local manufacturing in 1998 at its first plant in Pithampur, Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. Over the past three decades, Bridgestone India has grown into an important pillar of the Bridgestone Group’s global operations, serving customers across the country through advanced manufacturing, a robust distribution network and a steadfast commitment to delivering premium products and solutions.

The celebration reflected Bridgestone India’s vision of building a sustainable mobility future while strengthening partnerships across the automotive value chain. As the company enters its next phase of growth, it remains focused on delivering advanced tyre technologies and mobility solutions that support safer, more efficient and more sustainable transportation.

“Bridgestone India’s 30-year journey is not merely the story of the growth of a company; it is also a symbol of the success of Japan–India economic cooperation. Since its establishment in 1996, the company has grown alongside the Indian market and has made significant contributions to India’s industrial development and the evolution of mobility through its investments in plants in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra,” said H.E. Mr. ONO Keiichi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India & the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Addressing the event, Mr. Ankit Asthana, IAS, Additional Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation, said, “The story of Bridgestone in Madhya Pradesh is not merely the success of one company; it is an example of how visionary corporate leadership and responsive governance can together create lasting economic and social value. This collaboration has not only contributed to the company’s growth but has also strengthened the industrial ecosystem of our state by generating employment, supporting ancillary industries and promoting responsible manufacturing.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nobuyuki Tamura, Member of the Board, Representative Executive Officer, EAST CEO, Bridgestone Corporation, said, “The first 30 years established a strong foundation, and the next 30 years will create new possibilities. Throughout our journey in India, we have remained guided by our Mission, ‘Serving Society with Superior Quality,’ and our commitment to creating value for society through safety, sustainability, innovation and quality. India today plays a significant role in Bridgestone’s regional and global growth strategy. Looking ahead, we will further strengthen our commitment to India, including through the previously announced passenger car tyre expansion plan, preparations for which are already underway, while continuing to enhance our R&D capabilities to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of the Indian market. Together with our partners and stakeholders, we will continue to innovate, grow and contribute to a safer, more sustainable and more connected future of mobility.”

“Bridgestone India has contributed to India’s growth through investment, employment generation, manufacturing excellence, technology development, local sourcing and skill development. As we enter the next phase, our focus will remain on translating Bridgestone’s global capabilities into locally relevant products and solutions, strengthening responsible manufacturing, deepening partnerships across the automotive value chain, and addressing the evolving needs of mobility, society and the environment,” said Mr. Rajarshi Moitra, Managing Director, Bridgestone India.

Local manufacturing began in 1998 at the Pithampur plant, laying the foundation for Bridgestone’s manufacturing presence in India. The company further expanded its manufacturing capabilities in 2013 with the commissioning of its Chakan plant in Pune, while continuing to strengthen its position as a trusted brand known for innovation and customer-focused offerings. Today, Bridgestone serves millions of Indian customers across the passenger, commercial and specialty tyre segments.

In 2025, Bridgestone India established a Satellite Technology Centre at its Pune plant to strengthen the development of “Dan-Totsu”*1 products. The facility enhances the company’s technology development capabilities across the entire engineering value chain – from material planning and product research to design and manufacturing – specifically for the Indian market. Bridgestone brings its global manufacturing expertise to India through a comprehensive portfolio of tyres designed to deliver superior performance, comfort, durability and safety across a wide range of vehicle categories, including passenger cars, SUVs, trucks, buses and earthmoving equipment. Looking ahead, Bridgestone India aims to further strengthen its focus on innovation, value creation and sustainable mobility solutions, supporting India’s evolving automotive and infrastructure landscape.
