JUNYAN’s Global Glow in Custom Auto Lighting for Trucks, Sports Cars, and Beyond

At this year’s Taipei AMPA, Autotronics Taipei, and E-Mobility Taiwan 2035, Junyan Auto Industrial Co., Ltd.—a Taiwan-based auto lighting manufacturer known for its quality, innovation, and adaptability in a fast-changing global market—quietly stood out as a notable presence among leading automotive innovators. With over two decades in the automotive sector, Junyan has evolved from a mold design specialist to a global player in high-performance automotive lighting development.

Founded in 1999, Junyan now employs around 140 people, producing advanced automotive lighting components, including headlights, taillights, and full LED systems. At their booth, Penny Tsai, Sales Representative for Junyan, shared insights into the company’s growth, product focus, and vision.

“We started about 25 years ago with molding designs,” she said. “Now we produce performance lighting systems with R&D and project departments. When customers come with an idea, we review the feasibility and develop it if there’s a good opportunity.”

Junyan prides itself on customization and responsiveness, tailoring its products to the aesthetic and functional preferences of customers in regions like the U.S., Japan, and Europe. “Americans usually go for pickup truck lighting,” Penny explained. “In Japan, it’s more about sport cars like the Nissan Skyline or Toyota GT86, which are popular among sports car enthusiasts. We adapt to those regional trends—sometimes converting new-style designs to older car models so they look fresh and fashionable.”

Their booth showcased various upgraded lighting solutions, from multi-beam LED headlights to retrofitted designs for older vehicles. What makes Junyan stand out is not just design—but a rigorous commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

“We never promise what we can’t deliver,” she emphasized. “Every time we find any functional issue, we ask customers to return the part. We analyze it, fix it, and prevent it from happening again. Also, we’re strict about lead times. I only say yes when I’m 100% sure.”

Despite its success, Junyan faces challenges due to fluctuating international trade policies, especially tariffs and regulations from the U.S. market. “Right now, the political situation, especially with American tariffs, is tough,” she admitted. “It’s a disadvantage because the demand is very localized—focused on one country means limited access for others. But if that vehicle is exported, it opens up new opportunities in other markets.”

Junyan is currently eyeing the Indian market, with Penny overseeing regional inquiries and partnerships. “I was surprised by how many Japanese car parts are sold in India,” she said. “India has its own brands, but there’s strong demand for Japanese models.
There are millions of vehicles already on the roads, and with people keeping cars longer, there’s real demand for replacement lighting.”

Penny noted that Indian consumers are practical, preferring durability over chasing the latest models. This aligns well with Junyan’s strength in supplying long-lasting, upgrade-focused lighting solutions.

Looking to the future, Junyan aims to diversify its customer base and mitigate risks from any one market or region. “Many companies face the same issue with political uncertainty,” she said. “So our strategy now is to separate risk by exploring new regions and finding customers outside high-tariff zones— that way, we can keep growing without being too vulnerable.”

Since its founding, Junyan has consistently expanded, launching new products and opening manufacturing facilities to support a growing international clientele. The company holds ECE, DOT/SAE, and CCC certifications, giving it a competitive edge in both regulated and unregulated markets.

From their multi-beam LED headlamp launch in 2024 to their award-winning designs in global expos, Junyan continues to push boundaries in design and technology.

As Penny concluded, “We always stay focused on our mission—safe, stylish, and reliable lighting. And we believe strong relationships and listening to each market
will keep Junyan shining for years to come.”
